The Secret to Living to 100 Years Old

Rare Tranquility and Peace of Mind

An ordinary person can also live to 100 years old; the choice lies with oneself.

The "Huangdi Neijing" (The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon) says:

"Next are those sages who, living in harmony with heaven and earth, follow the principles of the eight winds, temper their desires amidst the mundane world. They harbor no resentment or anger, do not wish to separate from the world in their conduct, and do not seek to stand out in society by their attire. They do not overburden their bodies with affairs, nor are they troubled by thoughts, making serenity their focus and contentment their achievement. Their bodies do not wither, their spirits do not scatter, and they too can reach the age of one hundred."

"Next are those sages who, living in harmony with heaven and earth,"

These sages live like ordinary people. They do not practice asceticism or extraordinary feats, but live naturally among the society/this world.

"follow the principles of the eight winds,"

They adapt to the changes in weather and seasons, understanding how to maintain their bodies in harmony with their environment.

"temper their desires amidst the mundane world."

Like ordinary people, they have appropriate tastes for food and drink.

"harbor no resentment or anger,"

However, they do not harbor hatred or anger; they do not lose their temper and absolutely have no feelings of resentment.

"do not wish to separate from the world in their conduct,"

They do not leave their homes to practice; they live like ordinary people, wearing ordinary clothes and eating ordinary food.

"and do not seek to stand out in society by their attire."

But their behavior differs slightly from ordinary people; they do not exhaust themselves in the pursuit of money, fame, or profit.

"do not overburden their bodies with affairs, nor are they troubled by thoughts,"

They do not overwork their bodies with tasks, living a simple and tranquil life, without harboring grudges or unresolved thoughts, keeping their minds serene and focused.

"making serenity their focus and contentment their achievement, their bodies do not wither, their spirits do not scatter, and they too can reach the age of one hundred."

They are able to live each day optimistically and joyfully, finding contentment in simplicity. Their bodies do not easily deteriorate, and their spirits remain undisturbed. Such people can live to be 100 years old.
